County Hall Branch - Closure Week Information
Closure notice -
County Hall Branch Now Closed
This is to enable us to
prepare to move premises.
Our History
Centre branch remains open until April 2012.
Join us at our new home in the Hive in July 2012.
You can follow the
progress of our move on our blog.
From February 2010 the County Hall branch of Worcestershire
Record Office closed for the first full week of every month and is
now clsoed up until the permanent move to the new Worcester Library
and History Centre in 2012.
Regular closure periods have enabled staff development and
training in the full range of professional skills needed in order
to provide a 21st century archive service. Reallocation of staff
time during closure periods has enable the following:
- Arrangement of all the archives to enable a smooth move.
- Improved and widened public access to some of the many archive
collections currently not available by providing staff with
dedicated time to prepare lists, catalogues and indexes
- An enhanced service for people depositing their records with
the Record Office by faster listing of deposited collections
- Increased online accessibility to information and services
including the development of a more user friendly electronic
finding aids system
- Preparation and development of tasks essential to the move to
the new building including staff training.
Each month we are reporting on progress and achievements during
closure weeks. Please use the links below to view a copy of the
reports, which are also available in the search rooms.
