West Midlands Contractor Framework (WMCF)
The West Midlands Contractor Framework is
A forward-thinking method of managing
construction contracts for public sector organisations. It improves
the quality of buildings and shares valuable knowledge, while
simplifying procedures and reducing costs.
So far, the framework has been used for
projects including new school buildings, a leisure centre
refurbishment and new police and fire service facilities.
The Organisations using the Framework are
Worcestershire County Council, Herefordshire
Council, West Mercia Police Authority and Hereford & Worcester
Fire and Rescue Service and also Dudley Metropolitan Borough
Council.
The construction companies awarded a place on
the framework are Kier Construction Central, Speller Metcalfe
Malvern Ltd and Thomas Vale Construction plc of
Stourport-on-Severn.
The framework is available for other public
sector organisations in the West Midlands to use – please just get
in touch.
The West Midlands Contractor Framework works
by
Using construction companies already selected
through a process advertised in the Official Journal of the
European Union (OJEU). The selected companies are awarded contracts
of £1 million or greater on a rotational basis during the four
years of the agreement, providing performance standards are
maintained.
This allows the client and the contractor to
work in partnership during the early stages of a project, which
improves the 'build ability' of designs, encourages the involvement
of key suppliers and provides greater community engagement
opportunities.
The framework also helps to support the local
economy by engagement with local suppliers and sub-contractors and
by promoting skilled job opportunities.
