About Parent Parnership & Our Services

Our Aims
The aim of the Parent Partnership Service is to provide
information and support for parents/carers with a focus on children
who have been identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Parent Partnership Services provide a range of flexible services in
order to empower parents to play an active and informed role in
their child's education.
The service aims to support parents/carers through the successes
and difficulties of their children's education. We aim to assist
parents/carers to feel confident in:
- Enabling their children to realise their full potential
throughout their educational life
- Working together with statutory and voluntary agencies who also
support children and families.
The Parent Partnership Service aims to represent the needs,
views and opinions of parents/carers to ensure their voice is
heard. To achieve this we regularly monitor and evaluate all
aspects of our work, and actively seek the views of parents/carers
in this process.
Services
In order to fulfil our aims we are able to offer the following
services:
Telephone Support
We offer telephone information and support on a range of issues
concerning parents/carers.
|
Support for parents/carers
This includes training for parents/carers, facilitating
conferences and seminars on a range of educational issues and
support on setting up and running Parent Support Groups.
|
Befriender Service
A Befriender is a volunteer for the Parent Partnership Service
who is trained in SEN awareness and supports families with children
who have been identified as having SEN.
|
Support for schools
In order that parents/carers and schools can build an effective
partnership and working relationship, we support schools by
offering SEN awareness sessions for parents/carers; giving support
and information on non-curriculum issues such as bullying and
complaints procedures. At all times we aim to be sensitive to the
needs of both school and parents/carers.
|
Signposting Service
We hold a comprehensive list of support groups and voluntary
agencies that are able to give additional information and support
to parents/carers on a wide range of educational and
non-educational issues.
