Worcestershire Teen Book Award (WTBA)
Winner announced
At an exciting quiz and celebration event in the
Council Chamber on World Book Night on 23rd April 2013,
a packed chamber heard the winning announcement of Susanne
Winnacker's 'The Other Life' voted as best read. Students
championed their own favourites, and answered questions on all
titles before author Joe Craig talked to an eager audience about
his own writing.

Benefits of participating in the award
One school
developed a reading culture that was not present previously.
- Another converted a group of girls to a
traditional 'boys' writer.
- All schools have said that pupils (and some
teachers and librarians) have read books they otherwise would not
have read.
- The intention was to stretch our boundaries
and the WTBA has done just that.
Criteria
- Titles published from
November one year through to the following October
- Aimed at readers aged 11 to
14
- Cannot be a sequel.
Pupils vote in school to whittle down to a
shortlist of six.
Books are read over Spring term and votes collated for the final
announcement
Although we encourage pupils to read as many
of the titles as possible, we will accept votes if pupils have not
read the lot, but still get excited by what they have read.
Log in to our Facebook
group to comment on the titles.
