Worcestershire has an exceptional natural environment. The County does however face significant development pressures. To ensure that the natural environment of the County is conserved and enhanced the County Council wish to develop a Green Infrastructure framework.
This post is a one year contract to cover a secondment. The post provides specialist technical advice to County Council departments and partners on their responsibilities under NERC as well as advising upon biodiversity best practice. During the year the main focus of the post will be to act as advisor and coordinator for matters relating to the natural environment during the development of a GI framework for Worcestershire. The post will be expected to take the lead in developing the work undertaken to date in regard to biodiversity and give support to planning officers as they plan for GI within development proposals.
A first degree or equivalent in ecology, or environmental science or a related subject with an ecology post-graduate qualification will be required. You should have an appreciation and understanding of ecology, biodiversity and broader sustainability issues, illustrated by qualifications/training and ideally work experience which includes experience in web based provision of data, GIS mapping and drafting reports Experience of working with environmental issues within the planning system would be advantageous so too experience of liasing and consulting with partners and wider stakeholders.
