Funding for supporting children with special needs
and/or disabilities
There are grants available that will enable you or your setting
to develop inclusive practice when supporting children with
disability and/or special needs. You may apply for funding in the
following areas:
Inclusive practice in childcare settings (0 to 5 year
olds):
You can download an application form (see
below), or alternatively, they are available
from the Inclusion team for settings or childminders
wishing to increase staff ratios to support the full inclusion of
children with additional needs.
Playscheme and after-school provision (0 to 19 year
olds):
Money is available for the inclusion of children of any age with
disability or diverse needs wishing to access playschemes or
out-of-school clubs.
Equipment:
A number of children are disadvantaged by a lack of equipment to
support their inclusion in all settings, including out-of-school
clubs. Items such as walking frames, specialist chairs,
suitably-adapted play equipment, harnesses and hoists can make all
the difference to a child who needs them.
There is currently no funding available to purchase specialist
equipment, however, if you have an equipment need please contact us as we can liaise with the
Physical Disabilities Outreach Teams on your behalf.
All grants awarded require settings to evaluate the
benefits of the funding.
