Partners and Schools

Early Intervention Family Support (EIFS) is
designed to offer early intervention, preventative support
and guidance and advice to parents and families to help deal
with issues and problems as soon as they emerge.
This will help to increase the chances of a young person and
their family achieving positive outcomes and prevent problems
getting worse.
Early Intervention Family Support Workers have a good understanding
of child development, family life and parenting and can help in
lots of ways:
- Give children, young people and families a chance to be
listened to.
- Help with difficult behaviour and feelings.
- Discuss different ways of parenting and introduce some new
ideas.
- Help find a way forward that's right for the family.
The support the Early Intervention Family Support Workers provide
will be different for every family but might include:
- Working with the family together or individually with parents
or children.
- Learning together as a family.
- Pointing them in the right direction, for example the Citizens
Advice Bureau or health services.
- The family and the school working together.
