Cycling Projects

Advanced Stop Lines

Using Developer Section 106 funding and other grants, Advanced Cycle Stop Lines are being introduced at a number of key transport junctions in the City of Worcester.

Barneshall Avenue to St. Mark's Close, Worcester new shared use path as part of NCN 45/Regional Route 44

Improvements have been made to the path between Barneshall Avenue and St. Mark's Close in Worcester. The section has been widened and is now shared use for pedestrians and cyclists. The street lighting has been improved and route made more direct around an electricity substation with an improved ramp and had rails at the St. Mark's Close end.

The route improvements cost £80k and this also involved land acquisition to widen the route. This has been funded from Big Lottery funding as part of the Connect2 Diglis project for this important part of the St. Peter's to City Centre cycle route.

Bus Stop Improvements

Pershore High School Bus Bay Improvements

Worcestershire County Council has been working in partnership with Pershore High School to improve the movement of buses and pedestrians on the school site to make it a safer environment for students.

Phase 1 of the improvements introduced during the school summer holidays 2010, saw the marking out of new bus bays and pedestrian walkways, within the school site. This new system removes the need for buses to reverse in order to exit the site, and allows for safer pedestrian movement at the start and end of the school day.

Phase 2 of the scheme is looking at segregating the movement of cars, pedestrians and buses around the school site and will be carried out during 2011.
