New Hanbury Circular Walk
If you fancy getting out and about over the
Christmas holidays, why not go for a walk in the wonderful
Worcestershire countryside?
The Countryside Service has launched a new 6 ¾ mile fully
waymarked circular walk around the lovely countryside of
Hanbury. The walk is part of the Droitwich Canal Restoration
Project and as well as the Canal, takes in Pipers Hill Common,
Hanbury Church and Hanbury Hall, with an additional link to the
Jinney Ring Craft Centre. A leaflet will be available
shortly, but if you can't wait, you can download a copy
(464.11 KB).

Grow with Wyre Project News
'Grow With Wyre’ is a £4 million
landscape partnership project, designed to encourage people to
visit, understand and protect the unique landscape of Wyre Forest.
It aims to conserve the built and natural features that create the
unique and historic character of the Wyre Forest landscape and
encourage more people to access, learn and become involved.
Worcestershire County Council's Countryside
Service is a key partner in this scheme delivering a number of
projects to improve access for informal outdoor leisure.
- Two new promoted routes are currently under development
including a completely stile and step free, 4.5 mile circular walk
starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Upper Arley.
The second route is a 4 mile walk starting at the Severn Valley
Railway train station in Bewdley and follows the River Severn
up-stream to Upper Arley Train station. Walkers will then
have the opportunity to travel back to Bewdley by purchasing a
single ticket to travel on the heritage stream railway, or by
walking the scenic route past the Trimpley reservoirs on the East
side of the river back to Bewdley.
- A path linking Blackstone Riverside Picnic site in Ribbesford
to Bewdley has been resurfaced and the car park also upgraded. This
now offers visitors the opportunity to park for free at the country
park and enjoy a pleasant 1km riverside walk into the town
centre.
A further walking route is being
developed in order to promote healthy living and reduce dependency
on car use. This new walking route will link Bewdley town to the
heart of the Wyre Forest, finishing at the Forestry Commission's
visitor centre at Callow Hill.
