Information and Business Systems (IBS) is the division of the Corporate Services Directorate that is responsible for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Worcestershire County Council.

Business Responsibilities

IBS is responsible for

  • Purchase, maintenance and disposal of computer equipment
  • Software
  • IT Support
  • Network infrastructure
  • Telephony
  • Application maintenance and development
  • Web development
  • Geographical Information Systems
  • ICT training for staff
  • Printing production
  • Graphic design.

ICT Strategy

The Joint ICT and IM Strategy 2007-2010  pdf icon  (587.06 KB) provides a 'big picture' view of Worcestershire County Council's approach to the use of Information Management (IM) and Information Communications Technology (ICT) over 3 years.

Purchase of equipment

PCs, notebook computers and peripherals are purchased under a framework agreement which is the subject of a tender process. The tender is advertised by placement of a contract notice in the Supplement of the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ S), in respect of the European public procurement directives.

Maintenance

All equipment is purchased with a maintenance agreement to cover the expected life of that equipment.

IBS has approximately 190 staff in various areas, with the largest being IT and network support staff, and analyst programmers.
