The 2004 CPA described Procurement as one of the Council's
strengths and the Value for Money assessments by the Council's
external auditors reported "Procurement arrangements are strong and
can demonstrate effective support to front line services in
delivering value for money improvements"
In 2008 the Council won the Society of Procurement Officers
(SOPO) National Award for Outstanding Achievement in
Procurement.
The Council's Corporate Procurement Strategy sets out it's
support of a mixed economy and its commitment to the promotion of a
strong local economy. In addition, the Council is fully signed up
to the Governments national 'Small Business Friendly
