Environmental Targets

We have recognised the role that Procurement has to play in achieving our social economic and environmental targets, which are set out in our Worcestershire's Community Strategy  (1.11 MB). We are committed to non-discrimination in our procurement, with fair and transparent procedures and equal treatment of all potential suppliers.

We want to work with our contractors and suppliers to encourage them to identify and minimise the environmental impacts of their activities including the production of waste, consumption of energy and the use of environmentally damaging materials. This can be achieved through awareness raising and encouraging the development of an environmental policy and environmental management system.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Black and Minority (BME) Firms

We want to help increase the capacity of local Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) firms, helping them become 'Fit to Compete' and secure contracts from main service providers. It is hoped that this will generate increased workloads, which will in turn help local employment and create other community benefits.
