Worcestershire Fit for the Future - Corporate Plan
2011-2016
I believe that Worcestershire's residents are expecting
something different from this council. The impact of the economic
recession on Worcestershire, the cost pressures associated with an
ageing population and national government's response to reducing
public sector borrowing have provided the impetus for us to set out
a new vision and strategic direction for the council in the years
ahead.
I have developed the new Corporate Plan to reflect this
need for change. It was adopted by Council in June 2011.
A Prosperous Worcestershire is the vision of
the new plan and falling under this overarching aim are four key
"areas of focus" which I believe will deliver our
vision.
- Open for Business
- Children and Families
- The Environment
- Health & Wellbeing
The plan outlines a new and exciting direction for us all and I
look forward to working with you to shape the county's future
within which we all work and many of us also live. It sets
out the issues in our key areas of focus and what we are setting
out to achieve, which involves a change in direction and
significant improvement in the case of 'Open for
Business' and 'Children and Families', to
lever maximum advantage from 'The Environment' and
to ensure we make a success of our new responsibility for
'Health and Well Being'.
I would encourage you all to read the plan, which has been kept
short of word count and rich in depth of meaning and most
importantly engage in it by bringing it to life in your
professional capacity.
