Tackling Climate Change
Worcestershire County Council is working hard to
help tackle climate change and this has been reflected in the
council's success in being awarded the prestigious 'Beacon Status for Tackling Climate Change'.
The
council works in close partnership with a range of organisations in
the county to ensure we have a joined up and well considered
Climate Change Strategy
& Action Plan. These documents detail the targets we are
working towards and how we will achieve them. For more details
please go to the key policies and strategies
page.
We produce a Worcestershire
Partnership Climate Change Newsletter including news of events
and developments both within Worcestershire and around the
World.
We hold educational seminars for Worcestershire Partnership
members on topics relating to sustainability and climate change.
All the presentations can be found on the Seminar and Events Archive pages.
Every year we run the Switch It Off campaign. It aims to
encourage people to improve energy efficiency in homes and offices
by switching off unnecessary lights and appliances. The campaign
runs for one week and culminates in the 'Big Switch Off' on the
Friday between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Last year the amount of energy
saved during this period was the same as 15,416 typical three-bed
detached houses turning off all their power for one year!
Worcestershire County Council works in partnership
to deliver Warmer Worcestershire. This
campaign enables you to look up your home on the website and see
how well it retains heat. Homes that lose a lot of warmth may
benefit from better home
insulation.
