Economic Assessment
The Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction
(LDEDC) Act 2009 places a new Statutory Duty on all upper tier and
unitary authorities to prepare an assessment of the economic
conditions of their area from the 1st April 2010. However, we have
long recognised the value of having a sound understanding of local
economic conditions.
The Worcestershire County Economic Assessment 2010-2011 is the
first edition to be published in response to the new duty on the
County Council, but represents the 13th edition in the
series. A Summary has also been produced.
The document was published on Thursday 27th January
2011.
The assessment provides local authorities,
businesses and partners with a comprehensive picture of local
economic conditions and priorities. This will strengthen
their ability to make informed decisions which have the potential
to benefit the local economy, whilst contributing to the delivery
of sustainable economic development.
The report contains key facts, figures and
analysis that will help businesses, the public sector and other
organisations to chart a course to recovery from the national
recession.
