This map was commissioned by the Corporation of Worcester in the
1820s to show the land and property they had an interest in.

The plans show corporation land and property inside the city and
up to a mile outside the city walls, organised into parishes.
It is hand-drawn and coloured with ink and watercolour.
The light has not faded the inks because the book was stored
closed, so the colours have remained bright despite being almost
200 years old.
Each plan is very detailed, showing individual properties or
parcels of land, along with a brief description of the property
and/or land use, its proprietors or occupiers, and its size.
It is not a complete source of Georgian property information, as
there are few details about private property that had nothing to do
with the Corporation.
As a book like this would be hugely expensive to produce, yet
out of date within a few years as tenants changed or property was
sold, some pages have been annotated.
Another sign of frequent use is that some of the scale bars have
been cut.
