Worcestershire Record Office

The Worcestershire Record Office (WRO) is part of the Heritage Services Division of the Adult and Community Services Directorate of Worcestershire County Council. In 2012 it will move to form part of the new Worcester Library and History Centre.


Closure week information

Weekly Closure Consultation - Important Notice 

In 2009, the County Hall branch of Worcestershire Record Office submitted a proposal to close Monday to Friday for one week per calendar month from February 2010, in order to prepare for the move to the new Worcester Library and History Centre in 2012.

Following on from extensive consultation with our users, we can now confirm that this closure will take place during the first complete week (Monday to Friday inclusive) of each calendar month. The first of these closures will took place from the week beginning Monday 1st February 2010.

Photographic permits

These permits were introduced on 2nd January 2010, following consultation with Record Office users in our public search rooms and via this website. The cost of these permits is as follows:

1 day permit £4.00 / 5 day permit £15.00 / Annual permit £30.00

The permits will be available from both branches and can be used in both branches. For further information please check our Charges section.

Record Office 2010 Calendar

Worcestershire Record Office 2010 Calendar

Our 2010 calendar features some never before seen photographs taken from glass negatives in our collections. It includes images from across Worcestershire, including, Bewdley, Worcester, Droitwich and Evesham. They are available to buy at both Record Office branches.

The calendars are now priced at £1 (originally £5).
