Cycle through our beautiful countryside
Cyclists in Worcestershire are being
encouraged to put their pedals to the metal this spring as a
picturesque new cycle route has been opened between Pershore and
Evesham.
Worcestershire County Council agreed the
extension to the existing route late last year and the new
cycleway, that completes the link between Worcester and Evesham, is
now open for cyclists to enjoy at their leisure.
As well as opening this beautiful new link,
the existing cycle path from Worcester to Pershore has been
re-branded as National Cycle Network Route 442, thanks to the hard
work of Worcestershire County Council and volunteers from the
sustainable transport charity Sustrans.
By putting up signs to ensure cyclists can
easily follow the new route, cutting back overgrown vegetation and
making improvements to dropped crossings for people travelling by
bicycle, the trail from Worcester to Evesham has become a safe and
visually inspiring route for cyclists to enjoy for many years to
come.
A map of route 442 can be found by going onto
Worcestershire County Council's cycling web pages and following the
links or by going direct to http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/cms/cycling/cycling-maps.aspx.
