Learn to cook up a store cupboard storm
Every year the average family with children throws away
about £680 worth of perfectly edible food. That's the equivalent of
£50 a month.
To help tighten up those purse strings and
stop waste ending up in landfill, Worcestershire County Council's
Waste Prevention Team will be holding a Love Food Hate Waste road
show with free cookery demonstrations, food sampling and
information stands.
Residents across Pershore will be able to
watch cookery demonstrations which will offer advice on preparing
cheap, yet nutritious meals, from ingredients that may normally be
thrown in the bin.
Free samples and recipe cards will be handed
out to help visitors love their leftovers and make the most of
store cupboard staples.
Councillor
Anthony Blagg, Cabinet Member with Responsibility
for Environment and Waste Management said; "This is a
fantastic opportunity for residents to witness cookery
demonstrations and have an opportunity to sample some of the food
cooked.
With many of us feeling the pinch the Love
Food Hate Waste recipes and information available will help
everyone to save some money and reduce the amount of food that gets
wasted."
The road show is taking place on Saturday 11
February from 10am until 3pm at Chapman Court, High Street,
Pershore (outside ASDA).
