County Council asks Bewdley residents how
£250,000 improvement scheme should be spent
Bewdley residents and businesses are being
asked to share their views on what things they'd like to see
included in a £250,000 investment scheme to improve the
area.
A public information event is taking place on
Monday, January 30, at the Guildhall, Load Street, from noon until
7pm.
Those who attend will be asked for their
opinion on how they'd like to see funding prioritised for
improvements to the sustainable transport infrastructure and
attractiveness of the area.
This could include work to improve shared
cycling/pedestrian paths, bus shelters, street lighting, seating
areas, pedestrian crossings, cycling parking and signage.
Further details will also be available about a
traffic trial in Welsh Gate, taking place in February and March,
aiming to cut congestion and improve air quality.
Anyone not able to attend the information
event can still find out more about the plans and have their say
from next week via www.worcestershire.gov.uk/bewdleyscheme
The dedicated webpage on the County Council's
website will include an easy-to-use online questionnaire.
Alternatively, a copy of the questionnaire can be downloaded,
completed and sent through to the Transport Consultation Team,
Worcestershire County Council, County Hall, H1 Pavilion, Spetchley
Road, Worcester, WR5 2NP.
Those wishing to take the opportunity and
express their views can do so until March 31.
Cllr John Smith OBE, Cabinet Member
for Highways and Transport, said: "Funding has been set
aside to improve transport and the attractiveness of Bewdley.
Before final decisions are made on exactly what should be included
in that package we want to hear from residents and businesses to
hear what they think should be prioritised."
Cllr John Campion, County Councillor
for Bewdley and Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities,
said: "This investment in our town is really good news as
it aims to tackle some of the issues local people have raised, such
as traffic congestion. There's now the opportunity to help shape
how that funding should be prioritised and I'd like to encourage
anyone interested to get in touch to share their opinions."
