There's still plenty of time for
Bewdley residents to have say on how £250,000 improvement
scheme should be spent
Bewdley residents and businesses are being
reminded that they still have the chance to find out more and share
their views on what things they'd like to see included in a
£250,000 investment scheme to improve the area.
Around 150 people took the opportunity to view plans
and ask officers questions at a Worcestershire County Council
public information event held on Monday (January 30) at the town's
Guildhall. In addition more than 300 consultation documents were
handed out to passers-by.
People are being asked for their opinion on
how they'd like to see funding prioritised for improvements to the
sustainable transport infrastructure and attractiveness of the
area.
This could include work to improve shared
cycling/pedestrian paths, bus shelters, street lighting, seating
areas, pedestrian crossings, cycling parking and signage.
Anyone not able to attend the information
event can still find out more about the plans and have their say
via www.worcestershire.gov.uk/bewdleyscheme
until March 31.
The dedicated includes an easy-to-use online
questionnaire. It also has further details about a traffic trial in
Welsh Gate, taking place in February and March, aiming to cut
congestion and improve air quality.
Alternatively, a copy of the questionnaire can
be downloaded, completed and sent through to the Transport
Consultation Team, Worcestershire County Council, County Hall, H1
Pavilion, Spetchley Road, Worcester, WR5 2NP.
Copies can also be picked up at a variety of
locations around Bewdley including the Tourist Information Centre,
Library, Museum and various shops in the town.
Cllr John Campion, County Councillor
for Bewdley and Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities,
said: "The turnout at the public information event was
very encouraging and showed the level of interest people have about
improving things for their town. I'd like to say thank-you to
everyone that attended and expressed their views.
"It's important that anyone interested
understands they still have until March 31 to pass on their
thoughts on how this significant investment in the area should be
spent. This can be done by filling in the simple form on the
consultation leaflets available at various venues around the town
or by simply logging on to www.worcestershire.gov.uk/bewdleyscheme.
The views of residents and businesses really count so I'd encourage
everyone to have their say."
