Treat your Mum at the County Council's County
Museum
Mums visiting Worcestershire County Council's
County Museum on Sunday, March 14, can get in free as part of a
Mother's Day special.
The Museum, which is currently running a
fascinating Life Through a Lens photography exhibition, along with
social history and toy galleries, and an interactive gallery into
Worcestershire's past, will also be cooking up a special Mother's
Day menu at the Castle Kitchen Café, that includes tempting
homemade cakes.
Rachel Robinson, Worcestershire County
Museum's Visitor Services Officer, said: “The County
Museum offers a great day out for the whole family, and we are
delighted to offer mums free entry for the first time on Mother's
Day.
"And with a number of arts and crafts courses
available throughout the year, why not treat your mum to a course
where she could learn new skills across a wide range of different
arts and crafts."
The next course available is Slip into Silk on
Saturday, March 20, from 10am until 4pm, where participants will be
instructed in how to use delicate silk fibres to create beautiful
silk papers, which will then be turned into a stunning
necklace. Throughout the day textile artist, Tracey
Ayre-Massey will be on hand to help and advise as participants
create a lively and original piece of work to take home.
The Slip into Silk course is part of a series
of arts and crafts courses taking place at the County Museum on
various Saturdays throughout the year. They cover a huge
range of art techniques, crafts and skills and are designed to work
for all abilities so no previous experience is needed.
Other courses running later in the year
include; felt making, introduction to watercolours, drawing
techniques, felt handbags, bead work and creative Christmas
designs.
All courses run from 10am until 4pm and the
tuition price of £55 includes materials, tuition and lunch plus a
chance to look around the museum after your course. Places must be
pre-booked, call 01299 250416 for bookings.
