Healthy eating takes centre stage
The importance of healthy eating will be
taking centre stage in a number of Worcestershire's
schools.
Worcestershire County Council has organised
for Pawprint Productions, a theatre-in-education production
company, to bring their production of Charlie and The Kitchen Cook
to 10 schools in Worcestershire who have signed up to the School
Food Trust's Million Meals Campaign. This was made possible
by funding from the Department of Health West Midlands.
The performance is intended for key stage 1
and 2 children and is packed with audience participation and
original songs. Its aim is to highlight the importance of
healthy eating, linking in with 'healthy schools' issues and
promoting the option of healthy school meals.
Angela Kirton, Healthy Lifestyle
Manager said: "This is an excellent opportunity for
Worcestershire schools to encourage more pupils to try school meals
and get across the healthy eating and lifestyle messages in an
exciting and very memorable way."
The free performances will take place between
March 15 – 19 in schools in Worcester, Stourport, Bromsgrove and
Redditch.
