County Council holds successful BSF Bidder
Day
Scores of people attended a special event held
by Worcestershire County Council and the Wyre Forest Schools as
part of its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
Approximately 200 delegates attended a Bidder
Open Day at the Ramada Hotel in Bewdley earlier this month (March
10).
The event gave provider consortia a unique
chance to find out more about turning the council's BSF plans for
the Wyre Forest area, into reality.
Colin Weeden, Programme Director for
Worcestershire County Council, said: "The event was
attended by major consortia from within the BSF market, which
included the fields of construction, ICT and education. We were
extremely pleased with the high level of interest shown and feed
back given about the event, which many found well organised and
informative."
The County Council joined the BSF programme in
December 2008 and is part of the national wave 6a programme. The
council's Wyre Forest programme is the first of a total of five
waves of investment across the county. The initial project is
scheduled in two phases planned to start in next year (2011) and be
completed in 2014.
The first wave of the programme will consist
of five secondary schools:
The programme will also include:
- A new build (3-19 year old, 220 place) Special School
- A new Key Stage 3/4 Pupil Referral Unit
