Swap Shop proves a big hit
Swap Shops held by Worcestershire County
Council's Waste Prevention Team during January have proved a big
hit with local residents.
The 3 events in Kidderminster, Worcester and
Bromsgrove attracted more than 700 swappers in total, who were keen
to donate and have a search for hidden treasures amongst the many
items on offer. The Swap Shops proved to not only be fun but a
great demonstration of how easy it is to re-use unwanted items.
Councillor Anthony Blagg,
Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for Waste and
Sustainability, said: "The Swap Shop events have once
again proved a great success with many residents turning out
despite the bad weather during January. A whole host of items were
swapped, from books and CDs to kitchenware and toys. They really
are a great community event and bring people together, as well as
preventing perfectly good household items ending up in landfill
sites."
The Council would also like to hear from any
groups interested in holding their own Swap Shops and are offering
promotional advice and support to get them up and running.
