Recognition for Worcestershire's Foster
Carers
Worcestershire's long serving foster carers
have been given recognition at the County Council's Fostering Long
Service Awards 2010.

The awards ceremony took place in the council
chamber, County Hall to give acknowledgment to those foster carers
who have given considerable service to looking after children and
to those carers who have gained recent qualifications in Foster
Care.
Amongst those receiving a long service award
was Betty Sweet from Worcester, who has over 20
years service as a foster carer for Worcestershire County
Council. She said: "The evening was a lovely
occasion for carers to enjoy each other's company and relax".
Foster care is open to anybody who has the
skills and experience and plenty of space to look after
children. Worcestershire County Council's Fostering Service
is able to provide all the training and support
needed.
Cllr Marcus Hart, Worcestershire
County Council, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and
Young People (0-11 years) said: "The Fostering Long
Service Awards is a fantastic way of showing appreciation for the
dedication and hard work of our foster carers. They have a
vital role to play in giving looked-after children the best
possible start in life. However, there is still a need for
more carers to come forward. We would urge people from all
communities, who may be interested in fostering, to get in touch
with us as soon as possible."
