European Safer Internet Day
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 is European Safer Internet Day (SID10)
which is supported by countries throughout Europe. The theme this
year is ‘Think Before You Post’ and during the week, a range of
activities are taking place to help protect children and young
people online.
As part of this week of action, the Worcestershire Safeguarding
Children Board is hosting two presentations and inviting staff
that work with children and young people to attend.
The presentations will be led by Detective Superintendent Martin
Lakeman, Head of Public Protection for West Mercia Police, and a
member of all four West Mercia Safeguarding Children Boards.
The focus will be on the use of the internet and how
professionals and volunteers caring for or working with children
and young people can reduce the risks whilst becoming part of the
online world of children in their care.
Internet safety is a priority for all four of West Mercia
Safeguarding Boards (Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and
Telford & Wrekin), and by attending one of these events you can
become an ambassador for internet safety and make a difference.
