'To have and to hold from this weekend
forward'
Worcestershire County Council's Registration
Service is celebrating National Marriage Week this week, (February
8 until February 14-Valentines Day) by launching their new weekend
and Bank Holiday ceremony services.
To celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of
marriage couples can now get married, hold a civil partnership or
commitment ceremony on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and Bank
Holidays in its countywide Registration Offices.
This new service offers couples an hour
ceremony which gives them the opportunity to personalise their
special event however they feel appropriate. This is in contrast to
current ceremonies held in the week or on Saturday mornings that
last for half and hour.
Sharon Duggan, Worcestershire County
Council's Registration and Coroner Services Manager, said:
" In response to requests from the public for ceremonies which
reflect the couples personal wishes through additional readings and
music, we are delighted to be able to offer them the opportunity of
a longer ceremony which will enable them to ensure they have
a day to remember.
"By opening our Registration Offices on
weekend afternoons and Bank Holidays we hope that couples will find
the perfect day and time to suit them."
Ceremonies can take place at Registration
Offices across Worcestershire; these include offices in, Worcester,
Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Evesham.
Marriage remains incredibly popular with 90
per cent of young people in the UK aspire to be married at some
point in their future.
