Celebrate February at County Museum this
half-term
Fun craft activities exploring festivals from
around the world will be on offer at the County Museum this half
term.
'February Fun Time' at the museum will explore
celebrations which happen around the world during the month
(February), including South American carnivals, Chinese New Year,
'Festivals of Light' and Valentine's Day.
Activities will take place from Tuesday 16
February until Friday 19 February starting at 10.30am each day and
ending at 4.30pm. Activities are suitable for children from 4
years and up and adults are always welcome to ‘have a go’
too!
Children will be able to try their hand at
making hats, masks, cards, firework pictures, celebration lanterns,
carnival headdresses, stick puppets, clay models and more
(activities change daily, call the museum for more information
01299 250416).
Throughout the week children can also follow
the 'Firework Trail' around the museum and hop on board the Mobile
Museum Bus to explore its current exhibition which looks at the
history of the Olympics. On Thursday and Friday face painting
will also be available.
The Castle Kitchen Café will be serving light
lunches, delicious cakes and hot and cold drinks throughout the day
and the museum shop is extending its January sale until the end of
half term so there is plenty to keep you busy.
The admission charge is adults £4.50,
children/concessions £2.25 or a family ticket for £12. For a
day’s activities there is an additional charge of £1 per
child. Or you can buy a Family Pass valid for 12 months for
just £30 which includes all the activities.
Rachel Robinson, Worcestershire County
Council’s Visitor Services Officer, said: “It’s going to
be four fun-packed days at the museum with exciting things to make
and do and a chance to learn about celebrations in other countries
around the world.”

Worcestershire County Council is
also pointing families in the direction of a new
boredom-busting booklet ahead of the upcoming half-term
holidays.
The authority's Family Information
Service has compiled the booklet which gives details of
over 150 exciting activities families can get involved in across
Worcestershire, from cheese making to a day at the farm.
Helen Middleton, Family Information
Service Team Co-ordinator said: "We know that it can be
difficult for parents during school holidays to keep coming up with
different things for their children to do.
"We hope this activity booklet will provide a
range of ideas which are simple to do and don't cost the
earth."
