Services at Teme Valley Children's Centre
Everyone's welcome (parents to be, mums, dads,
grandparents, carers and childminders!)
Some of our services include:
Baby Sessions/Courses
Bumps to Babes: a fun and informal
session for mums to be and parents/carers with non-mobile
babies. Provides the opportunity for a chat, play and to ask
any questions you may have about pregnancy or parenting.
Guest speakers are invited covering topics such as healthy weight,
introducing solid and safety. The sessions are held term time
only.
Parents to Be Sessions: 4 weekly sessions
for parents to be, either as couples, on your own or with a friend,
relative or birth partner. The course is flexible,
interactive and fun and covers topics such as breastfeeding, labour
and birth and early days at home.
Birth to under 5's - Play Sessions
Stay and Play Hubs: fun interactive
parent, carer or grandparent and child session run by an Activity
Worker. Lots of age appropriate toys and activities
available. Sessions run 3 times a week in Tenbury, Martley
and Alfrick. See our Summer

Support and Advice
Family Support: We all know that children
don't come with manuals and that at times parenting can be
challenging. Sometimes we need some support and advice or
just pointing in the right direction. Our experienced Family
Support Workers have considerable experience of child development,
family life, parenting and home safety. Home visits can be
arranged.
Citizens Advice Bureau: provide a face to
face advice clinic at Alfrick Stay and Play Hub - contact us to
find out dates available.
Counselling: our qualified counsellor is
available for one-to-one sessions. Please phone the Centre
for full details or speak to a member of staff.
Parenting and Family Learning Programme
Family Links: a 10 week parenting course
which helps anyone involved in bringing up children think about
what they do, why they do it and how they feel about it.

Adult Courses
Basic First Aid Course: a 7.5 hour course
(split over 2 evenings or one full day) aimed at parents or carers
and is tailored to first aid for children and babies. Topics
covered include: initial diagnosis, resuscitation techniques,
choking, wound handling, burns and recovery position.
Attendees will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
on completion of the course - valid for 3 years. To book a

Family Finance Course: a free 5-week
course where you can learn how to develop planning and budgeting
skills to plan for a special trip for your
family. Please phone us to book a place or for more
details.
We also work alongside the many pre-schools, toddler groups,
primary and secondary schools, daycare nurseries, health clinics
and library services in the rural area.
We liaise with many local professionals such as health visitors,
midwives, GP’s, community police team, housing officers, speech and
language therapists and counsellors. We also have close links with
over 5’s Family Support Workers, the Extended Schools Co-ordinator
as well as HomeStart and JobCentre Plus
We have contact with organisations such as Women’s Aid, Asha, St
Basils and some of the local churches,
Our heart is to support families in the rural area in whatever
way we can during these very important early years of children’s
lives.
