Vetting Service for CRB
checks

Do your staff or volunteers
work with vulnerable adults or children?
Do you currently have a
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checking process in
place?
Do you need less than 100
checks per year?
Worcestershire County Council is
registered as an umbrella body to process CRB checks on behalf of
other organisations.
If you only require a small number of
checks per year and cannot meet the CRB threshold requirements, or
do not wish to register with the CRB, Worcestershire County Council
can process these for you as we are registered as an umbrella
body.
To become a registered body with the
CRB you would need to pay a large registration and set-up fee and
process a minimum of 100 applications each
year. Worcestershire County Council's Vetting Service has
no registration or set-up fees and no minimum application
threshold.
We make an administrative charge of £25
(plus VAT) to process each application in addition to any
applicable CRB fee. There are some limited areas, eg.
voluntary organisations, where a discounted rate applies. All we
ask is that you sign an agreement to adhere to the CRB's Code of
Practice.
We have a great deal of experience in
handling and processing CRB checks and this will help us to ensure
that the service you receive is second to none.
You will receive the forms and all
information needed to complete these correctly, and provided with
direct contact numbers for our team who are willing to help you at
any time.
We will:
- Checks the forms for errors and
ensure that sufficient information has been provided by the
applicant
- Check the identification of the
applicant through the inspection of the ID documents, using
guidance provided by the CRB
- Countersign applications to
confirm that your organisation has an entitlement to access
criminal record information and will comply with the CRB’s Code of
Practice
- Return the CRB disclosure form
to a specified person in your organisation via Royal Mail recorded
delivery.
