Global Learning and Sustainability programme 2011 - 12
Bishops Wood and Tide~ global learning are pleased to offer a wide
range of professional development opportunities focussed on global
learning and sustainable development.
The events range from one-day courses, to involvement in a
learning network over a period of 9 months. We work with teachers
and educators in the West Midlands and beyond, and between us we
offer a wealth of complementary experience and expertise. Both
organisations have strong reputations both nationally and
internationally for innovative education work and high quality
professional development. Our venues offer two contrasting
locations for meetings and courses, the Tide~ centre is a modern
space in the centre of Birmingham, with easy access to trains, and
Bishops Wood is in a delightful location in rural Worcestershire,
close to motorway links and main roads.
Bishops Wood Centre works
with school classes, teachers, Forest School leaders and
environmental educators. The centre focuses on Learning for
Sustainability, outdoor environmental learning, Forest School and
helping schools to develop their own grounds as exciting places for
learning. The 70 acre woodland site is home to a range of exciting
eco-buildings, meadows, ponds and a Saxon settlement. A place
full of inspiration for sustainable living and school grounds.
Tide~ global learning is a
teachers’ network promoting the belief that young people have an
entitlement to global learning through engaging with global
perspectives, human rights, sustainability and international
development. Our aim is to encourage teacher creativity,
stimulate learning and inspire curriculum development by
facilitating creative spaces where teachers can share and learn
from each other. We also produce a range of teacher created
resources.
We look forward to working with you and
your colleagues
