A unique and refreshingly different venue for a wide variety of events!  Bishops Wood Conference Centre is able to offer a choice of rooms and buildings suitable for conferences, meetings, training, team days, social activities and private functions.

Our award winning sustainably built centre has a variety of different sized rooms, equipped with flip charts, projectors, screens and internet access all included in the price. We also have some unusual buildings in which to hold your meetings or to incorporate in your conference, such as a Saxon Hall, Straw Bale Building and 'Hobbit' style dome!

Set within 70 acres of beautiful ancient woodland, meadows and pools this is a place for reflection, learning and appreciation of the natural world,  Even the walk from the car-park will offer glimpses of woodland birds, squirrels and other wildlife to enhance the start to your day. With the increasing emphasis on the need to be sustainable, our facilities at the Centre will appeal to the environmentally-conscious businesses throughout the region.

We are able to offer the following extras to your delegates to make their visit to Bishops Wood even more memorable.

Facilities for hire

Bishops Room

The Woodland Room

This attractive and unique room with its beautiful views of the surrounding oak woodland seats up to 80 people theatre style. There is easy access to the adjoining boardwalk and seating where your participants can relax and chat.

The Mitre Oak Room

This newly completed leaf shaped room seats 50 people theatre style. The large windows give beautiful views of the North Woodland. The room is heated by ground source heat drawn from deep bore-holes while the roof is clad with sedum.  This room with its soft north light also makes a perfect studio for performance and art. The inter-active whiteboard allows the use of the latest technology for presentations.

Poolside Room

This room with its views across a large pool seats up to 40 people theatre style. Ample natural light is available even in winter when the adjoining pool reflects light from the low winter sun.

Woodpecker Room

Woodp roomThis room seats up to 20 people theatre style or 14 boardroom style. It provides an ideal and secluded venue for meetings. The one way glass windows and adjoining bird-feeders allow close up views of many woodland birds including woodpeckers and nuthatches.

 

Solar Room

This light and airy room seats up to 10 people boardroom style. It also houses an extensive collection of books and periodicals ranging from sustainable building techniques to art and the environment.

The Saxon Hall

This is a room with a difference. A full scale reconstruction of a Saxon Hall of the 7th Century this is constructed with an oak frame, clad in oak and thatched. While not the usual sort of meeting room, this would make a memorable venue for a team building event, Storytelling session or even celebrating a wedding. It is the ideal place to sit around a fire, tell tales of long ago with a horn of mead in your hand. Comfortably seats 30 on wooden benches and for storytelling performances we have hosted over 50 people in this building.

Straw-bale house

As a base for outdoor team building sessions with 45 cm thick walls of straw covered in traditional lime plaster and the log burning stove lit, this is a cosy and atmospheric place to return to, even in the depths of winter.

Jay's Dome

Constructed by local inventor Jay Emery as an experiment in alternative building methods this is an experiment which really worked. Everyone falls in love with this beautiful building which is a very comfortable place for a small group to meet.  The surrounding deck is the perfect place to relax around a barbecue or even to stage a performance of Shakespeare!
