Worcestershire Environmental Archaeology Team



Worcestershire Historic Environment and Archaeology Service
provides specialist environmental services for the county and
beyond. These include pollen analysis housed in newly
equipped laboratories. Staff have a wide experience of different
types of challenging sites and sediments, including alluvial,
urban, buried soils, contaminated sites, wetland and marine.
As well as providing a range of direct services, the
team can, if appropriate, also provide a project managemnent role
in co-ordinating the work of a wider range of specialists.
Specialist services include:
environmental
project management
- plant macrofossils
- pollen
- wood
- molluscs
We can provide:
- environmental sampling in the field from evaluation to
full excavation – including spot sampling, coring and broad
environmental survey
- processing of samples (including hydrofluoric and
acetolysis treats of pollen where appropriate)
- analysis and counting
- pollen diagrams for full excavations
- an express service can be arranged for one or two
samples
Worcestershire is one of the few counties in England able to
provide this range of services and is currently engaged in projects
throughout the Midlands and the South-West of England.
