Planning Advice and Archaeology
The County
Historic Environment and Archaeology Service is responsible for
providing advice on planning matters to the County and District
Councils, (outside Worcester City, which has separate provision).
Below are a series of leaflets providing information on how
archaeology and the historic environment interact with the planning
process and who is responsible for the various stages
involved. Archaeology is now an integral part of the
planning process (through national government guidance and codes of
practice, the Regional Spatial Strategy and Local Development
Frameworks).
General information on the planning policies guiding historic
environment protection can be found on the Planning
Portal. General information on Listed Buildings,
Conservation Areas and Scheduled Monuments can be found on
the English Heritage
website.
If you have any queries or would like further
information on any of these issues, please contact the Historic Environment Planning
Advisor.
If you live in Worcester City, please contact the City
Archaeologist at Worcester City Council on archaeology@worcester.gov.uk
