Information and Advice
The Historic Environment and Archaeology Service provides
information and advice to planners, landowners, developers,
consultants, schools, local groups and the general
public.

Historic Environment
Record
The HER contains details of over 22,000 archaeological sites,
historic buildings, monuments, landscape features and find
spots in Worcestershire. You can ask for a search of the
record by visiting us, by phone or email. We provide information in
paper and digital formats and via our online resources.

Planning Applications and
Archaeology
The Service provides advice to County and District planning
services on the implications of development on the historic
environment of Worcestershire. This takes the form of input
into strategic planning and advice on individual planning
applications.

Countryside and
Archaeology
The Service provides advice on the management and conservation
of the rural historic environment. This includes advice for
landowners and farmers on Entry and Higher Level Stewardship
applications and capital works projects.

Archaeology and Churches
The Service Manager is also the Diocesan Archaeology
Advisor and provides an advisory service on behalf of the Diocesan
Advisory Committee.

What if I find
Something?
What you should do if you find something of archaeological
importance or you are worried about an historic building or ancient
monument? We provide advice on metal detecting and the law,
identification of finds and protection of the historic
environment.

Please note that charges apply to some of the services provided
