What is the Trading Standards
Service?
Worcestershire Trading Standards Service is a division of
Worcestershire County Council's Environmental Services
Directorate.
We are responsible for enforcing legislation that covers the
safety of products for the consumer market, weights and measures,
fair trading and food. We are also involved in maintaining
standards of animal welfare for livestock and for enforcing
measures to prevent the spread of animal disease in farm
animals.
If you are a consumer, we can advise you how to go about dealing
with a complaint for yourself and how to take a small claim in the
County Court.
If you are a
business, we can give advice and information to help ensure you
comply with consumer legislation. We are also able to check on
weighing and measuring equipment and offer a weight adjustment
service.
In order to assist both consumers and businesses, we have
developed a range of leaflets which can be downloaded from this
website (look for links followed by TS leaflet and its number
e.g.TS leaflet 9004, etc). Follow this link if you need an
interpretation or translation service.

From 1st June 2010 the County and
District Council functions of Trading Standards, Environmental
Health and Licensing have been combined into a single
Worcestershire Regulatory Service hosted by Bromsgrove District
Council. All the existing functions are being maintained or
enhanced, and are currently being delivered from the same
locations. Please note that the title of this service will change
in the near future.
