As a Catergory 1 Responder Worcestershire County Council plays a critical role in any emergency response. We provide a wide range of support functions that are likely to be called upon to assist the emergency services during an emergency (e.g. social services and highways) and crucially exercise a community leadership role.

We have a small team of Emergency Planning Officers that work with partner agencies to ensure our emergency preparedness arrangements are in place.

Emergency Preparedness arrangements are based on carrying out six key activities

  • Anticipation
  • Assessment
  • Prevention
  • Preparedness
  • Response; and
  • Recovery management

These six activites are further explained in our website
