H&W Chamber Of Commerce Womens Business Forum

External Event
21st May 2013

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Womens Business Forum aims to meet the needs of women at all stages of their business development, providing expert advice, inspirational speakers and innovative learning that will support you to build those all important business relationships

The speakers for this event will be Anna Madden and Julia Whelan who established Curo Chartered Accountants in 2005 after having worked together in one of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms.  In 2012 Curo was crowned ‘Employer of the Year’ at the Chamber of Commerce awards and the firm is currently shortlisted for best ‘Small Accountancy Practice’ and ‘Young Chartered Accountant of the Year’ in the ICAEW 2013 awards.
Their presentation will focus on:
• Factors affecting women in business
• Overcoming struggles and common hurdles – coping mechanisms
•  Getting the basics right, what you just can’t overlook and areas that need constant attention
• The highs!
• Some topical tax and accountancy tips for businesses

The Chamber also welcome Jane Brook from House of Colour to this event who will ask “Are you creating the right impression?” It may be a well-worn cliché that you only get one chance to make a first impression but making and sustaining a positive impression is critical to your success in all business contexts. 67% of a first impression is visual. What you wear and how you wear it conveys a wide variety of social messages. An accurate first impression can raise the credibility of you and your company.

By understanding the language of clothes and how to use colour effectively, you can make yourself more memorable and gain a competitive edge within the marketplace.
Understanding the impact that your appearance has on others’ perceptions of you is one of the best investments you can make. If you don’t place a brand on yourself, someone else will!
