Here Come The Gritters Again As We're In For Another Frosty Night

With another prediction of frost for this evening, Worcestershire County Council's gritting fleet are heading out onto the roads again this evening (Monday, February 18).
Following a dry day with some sunny spells, more clear spells are forecast overnight, allowing a frost to form and road surface temperatures to dip to a minimum -5. Areas of fog may develop later in the night, however with a strong likelihood of frost forming on roads overnight, gritters will be out and about on primary routes from 7.30pm tonight.
Drivers are once again urged to drive with caution, ensuring they temper their driving according to the conditions, and ensure they maintain a safe distance between themselves and other vehicles to allow for additional braking distance when roads are wet or icy.
Worcestershire County Council's Highways Manager, Jon Fraser, said: "Frost and ice are still presenting hazards on the roads in the mornings so we're taking every precaution in gritting the network to ensure we're supporting our drivers in their efforts to keep safe on the roads."

Gritting teams are also out and about ensuring grit bins across the county are refilled as fast as they can. To help residents pinpoint their nearest grit bin an interactive map is available at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/gritting, which allows users to search by postcode.
The dedicated section of the website also includes a map showing the designated routes, which are served by the 31 gritting vehicles, answers to FAQs, road safety advice and local radio station frequencies.
