Celebrating 70 years of Adult Social Care

Celebrating 70 years of Adult Social Care Banner

Adult Social Care was launched when The National Assistance Act was passed in 1948 and, for the last 70 years, has allowed social workers and social care assistants to help many thousands of people in Worcestershire to lead independent, dignified lives.

To mark the 70th anniversary of adult social care, we're celebrating the contribution that social care workers have made, and continue to make, and recognising the increasingly important role that Adult Social Care plays in our society.

There were around 30 work houses accross Worcestershire
The National Assistance Act of 1948 saw all workhouses disappear for good
Workhouse windows were 6 feet off the ground so people could not see in or out
